This Saturday 10-30-04 was the Benson Boo Bash. It was great to see crowds of kids and parents up and down Maple street, stopping in to shops, getting to know our small business owners. The wind was a little brisk, but the sunshine made up for it. Benson merchants pitched in, the kids painted pumpkins, we had cookies and pie, fresh from Janes, coffee and popcorn and hot dogs served up by Sprigs-Hot Tamales, Walt Nabity and Jay Farley. The costumes were judged, both kids and pets, it was nice to see Mayor Goodall presiding in a top hat, tuxedo and cape.
Plans for next years Boo Bash include a Masquerade Ball, and a midnight Haunted Benson tour, hosted by a local artist and former Ghostbuster. (What, you didn't know Benson was haunted? You haven't asked around.)
Look for the new, reformed Benson Collective to start promoting events in our Benson area. This is being done by two local artists, husband and wife, recently relocated in Benson after 8 years in England. They have some great ideas, and they are planning on staying put and keeping this venture alive and vibrant. I'll keep you posted on updates.
I would be glad to hear any news pertinent to this or any Benson activity. Contact; gitrjoe@msn.com
In the January issue of the Benson News I'm planning a Benson live music update. Who has it, who's playing, what time. Almost every week, somewhere between 72nd Fontenelle Blvd, Ames to Western, you can kick up your heels.
There will be restuarant reviews, featured merchants, art opening information and a rumour of the month.
Rumour: now, I got this from Sled; you remember Sled? One of the does in Mark Goodall's window has been missing during the early morning hours. It's said there has been a bit of a fued between Robo and Reba doe, about a certain Angel Doe who used to hang out at the Blue Pomegranate (Mark made Reba to keep his wandering boy at home) I'll keep you informed.
